Jamie Murray last Brit standing at Indian Wells

It hasn’t been the best of weeks for World No.1 Andy Murray: after surprisingly being beaten by Canadian Vasek Pospisil in the second round of Indian Wells, he has now exited the doubles competition with his partner Dan Evans. The pair were beaten 6-4 6-3 by Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau.

However, he’s not alone, with early losses for Kyle Edmund, Heather Watson, Dan Evans and British No.1 Johanna Konta capping off a rather disappointing week for British tennis. However, each of them can draw comfort from their spirited performances in defeat – and will be looking to bounce back as quickly as possible.

All of this means that Jamie Murray, along with his partner Bruno Soares, is the last Brit standing in the Californian sun. The duo edged into the last eight with a 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 victory over Treat Huey/Max Mirnyi and will now face Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau. Here’s hoping Jamie can inflict a bit of brotherly revenge!
