Johanna Konta beats Eugenie Bouchard to reach Apia International final

The good news keeps on coming for British tennis fans. First, Dan Evans reached the semi-finals of the Apia International in Sydney, and now British No.1 Johanna Konta has gone one better to clinch a place in the final with a very convincing 6-2 6-2 victory over Canadian Eugenie Bouchard.

Konta’s victory sets up a final with Poland’s Agnieszka Radwanska, who is also in excellent form. “Honestly I can’t tell you when the last time it was that she wasn’t in the top ten,” admitted Konta in her post-match press conference.

One thing’s for sure: it’ll certainly be worth getting up early tomorrow morning to catch what should be a close-fought encounter between two players at the top of the game – and a victory for Konta.
