Tip of the day: Hitting a ball on the rise

Do you avoid hitting a ball just after it’s bounced for fear of flailing about, missing it or sending the ball sky-high? Well, you shouldn’t: by hitting the ball almost on the half volley, you can both catch your opponent unawares and maintain your attacking position – rather than squirrelling back far behind the baseline.

This excellent video, from Tennis Now‘s coach Blair Henley, shows how to perfect your low-hitting technique and boost your confidence with a couple of simple drills. Remember: watch the ball!
